successful learners. We encourage children to
take ownership of their learning and develop
high aspirations for themselves that re昀氀ect our
high expectations.
Broad and balanced curriculum
All subjects are valued at Myland Community
Primary School and our curriculum re昀氀ects this.
We use thematic approaches to learning based
around high quality children’s literature that
help children become deeply engaged with
their learning through topic-focused lessons
and activities.
Skills for life
We aim to deliver an inspiring and challenging
curriculum that ensures children develop skills
like critical thinking, problem-solving and risktaking. We believe our curriculum promotes
resilience and independence to enable success
and happiness in the wider world.
The curriculum is divided
into three stages
1. Early Years Foundation Stage: from ages 0-5
2. Key Stage 1: from ages 5-7
3. Key Stage 2: from ages 7-11
Early Years
The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
is based on the Government’s Early Learning
Goals with seven areas of learning:
