Educational visits and
residential trips
To further enrich our curriculum, all children
are o昀昀ered a range of visits, both locally
and further a昀椀eld. Each class will go on an
educational visit or have a specialist team visit
them at school. These experiences are all linked
to curriculum work being covered in class.
Previous visits have included:
• Science Museum, London
• Bewilderwood
• Colchester Castle
• Abberton Reservoir
• The Tower of London
• The London Eye
Visitors
As well as taking the children out on
adventures, we also bring the adventure into
school! Recent visitors to the school have
included:
• Mad Science
• Opera Brava
• Dinosaur Experience
Outdoor learning
We have a small wooded area on our school
昀椀eld, as well as a safe, fenced pond area for
the pupils to use. We are also very close to
Highwoods Country Park which o昀昀ers excellent
opportunities for all aspects of Forest Schools.
Local visits too!
As part of their daily learning, children will
often be taken out in the local community to
investigate and understand their environment.
From examining infrastructure and architecture
to building community links, Myland
Community Primary School is a big part of the
community and the community is a big part of
our learning.
Residential trips
In Year 6, children have the opportunity to take
part in our annual residential visit to North
Yorkshire. This always helps develop their social
interactions, independence, con昀椀dence and
skills for the future.
